footbridge

Footbridge Terni, Italy The new pedestrian walkway of the city of Terni has to perform the role of connection and new gateway to the city, imposing itself as a new urban icon. In fact, the final configuration of the bridge suggests a transparent flowing sail boat. It looks like  a big “skeleton” or an archaeological ruin that, as a mysterious scaffolding, welcomes its “internal” the pedestrians and offers an “outside” strongly linked to the surrounding landscape and to the underlying travelers in transit. The charm of the ancient dragon Thyrus, featuring the coat of arms, influenced the design concept. The definition of a “technological skin”, characterized by a sustainable energy production system, it is an attempt to enact the old saying “Thirus et amnis dederunt signa Teramnis” (Tyrus and rivers marked Terni).

The area in question is not conceived exclusively as access to the cemetery but takes..
