Dao Viet Eco-City | Halong Bay

The project contemplates methods and principles of landscape architecture and urban planning for a new eco-city in Halong Bay, Vietnam, with reference to experience in sustainable urban design.
The projects offers modern architectural forms, proven technologies and advanced development respecting the local architecture, the characteristics of the area and the lifestyle of its geographical and its exceptionally valuable socio-political context in which it is inserted.
In strong opposition to the anonymity of the International Style and the anachronism of “historicist formalism” style architectures, our project proposes a strategic approach whose key words are: sustainability, eco-city, typological innovation and transformation.
The large size (area covers about 800 hectares) and the uniqueness of the landscape/environment, adjoining the recognized UNESCO World Heritage Site represented some of the major challenges that the project overcame.
